It was extremely lucky to have had Bobby at the helm, as producer of an otherwise completely untenable, curse-ridden project.
Dropping in any other producer into a production whose gears were already spinning as this one was would’ve been an extremely difficult process. This particular project was enmired in the game-engine equivalent of trench warfare, the worst technical experience of my career and most everyone else’s on the team. It basically required a producer made of the stuff they make blast-furnace firewalls out of.
Bobby tackled the metrics of the project’s problems immediately upon joining the team, kept his ears open to the Art folks at the same time, and maintained excellent communication and a steady helm through to the end. If we hadn’t had Bobby’s cool, calm, unsnappable and quazi-monklike temperament, along with a healthy, much-needed sense of humor to get through it, the damn thing would’ve been impossible to pull off otherwise.
Not once did my confidence in this guy waver. It would be an honor/privilege to work for him again anywhere.
