Bobby focuses on realistic goals. He realizes that setting absurd deadlines, forcing the entire development team to works ridiculous hours, and then playing a blame game when the project inevitably fails is not a proper development cycle. Bobby raises red flags regarding impossible deadlines based of his lead’s estimates immediately, thus avoiding last second crunches.
Bobby’s programming background also helps him communicate with the Technical pipelines. It allows him the ability to challenge initial time estimates and discount potentially false information. He can also immediately determine impossible programming time lines before even needing to discuss with the programming team and thus is able to leverage more time when it is needed right away.
Bobby was great to work with personally because he would push me to come up with the best possible time estimates and really work at creating realistic goals without too much padding, as he was able to take care of padding himself. Further, he showed a genuine concern for his team which made us all work that much harder because we knew “he had our backs” so to speak. Bobby excels not only at proper time management, but also at galvanizing the development groups as true teams that get the job done.
